Course summary This course is intended for practicing teachers and others with relevant experience who wish to gain postgraduate professional qualifications in special education. The approach used in the program blends theory and practice, with an emphasis on applying research findings to best teaching practices. Graduates who are qualified teachers may be employed as Special Education teachers with the NSW Department of Education and Training, other Australian state and territory public school providers, Catholic Education, and Australian independent school providers. Students may graduate with a master of special education with specialization in general special education; early childhood; emotional disturbance/behavior problems; sensory disabilities; blind and vision impairment and deaf hard of hearing.
International admissions requirements Students must have completed a four year Bachelor of Education degree or equivalent or a three year degree and a Diploma of Education or Master of Teaching. English language proficiency - TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): A score of 550 with a TWE (Test of Written English) of 4.5 in the paper-based test or a score of 213 with a 4.5 Essay Rating in the computer-based test or an internet test overall score of 93 with no sub-test score less than 21 and IELTS (International English Language Testing System): a minimum score of 6.5, with no sub-test score less than 6.0.
