Course summary The HRM specialisation takes students to a new level of understanding related to people at work. First, the course builds on the core course 'Managing Organisational Behaviour' by illustrating how HRM is a process that relates to the strategic goals of the business. The University will ask critical questions about the people skills required by business or operating units of an organisation. Once knowing the position and people skills and competencies needed and then plan for recruitment and staffing, training and development, performance management and job design including evaluating the performance of people at work. This specialisation is different to standard HRM specialisations in many MBAs because the University will focus on the resource-based view of people. That is, people are a strategic asset related to intellectual, social, and organisational capital. The course also helps students understand the industrial relations aspect of the HRM process so that managers can experience HRM across various contexts of change. The University teaches real analytical skills in this specialisation, not just knowledge.

International admissions requirements Students must meet each of the following criteria to the satisfaction of the Director of Postgraduate Studies: a tertiary qualification at degree or equivalent level from a recognised institution; three years professional full-time equivalent work experience, as determined by the Director of Postgraduate Studies. Students should have satisfied IELTS (Academic Training only) score of 6.0 (or better) (no component lower than 5.5), Pearson (PTA) score of 50 (with no score lower than 50), TOEFL (paper based) score of 550 (or better) (with minimum test of written English score of 4.5), TOEFL (electronic) score of 213 (or better) (with essay rating of at least 4.5) and TOEFL (internet based) score of 80 (or better) (with 19 minimum in all bands).
