Great place to study

I am enjoying my college life here at Soka. The level of entering student's level has increased rapidly, so you need to well prepared for SAT, well articulated personal statement, and so forth. Even though Soka is a new university, we have a lot of applicants every year, so I think you need to know that fact.

It was not easy for me to get in since my native language is not English. I received certain assistance from a representative in my home country, but it was not really sufficient, so I needed to independently work on the application process. Visa process was very painful since I needed to have various unfamiliar documents, and also needed to go to US ambassy in Japan. The whole process took a month to complete. One thing that I can say is to start as early as possible.

Soka University has a lot of schoalrship opportunities. In addition to the merit scholarship, we have opportunity scholarship, which is given to students whose parents' annual income is under $60,000. Therefore, if you think you cannot afford any college education, Soka University must be a great place to apply!

Soka University is a liberal arts college. Students do not need to decide their major before you enter Soka. In junior year, they need to decide their concentration from four different fields: Humanities, Social behavior science, Environmental studies, and International studies. I do not have any complaints about professors and facilities because they are great, especially I feel they are all here to fully support student's development.

All students are required to live on dorm, which can strengthen unity of your class. Our on-campus dorms are great. They are like hotel! There are three types of room: single, suits, and double. You cannot select roommate when you enter Soka, but later on, you can choose your roommate.

Many people got a job abroad or in the US before they graduated. People think that liberal arts college graduates would face difficulty to get a job because they do not have specific majors that they specialized in. However, liberal arts education is designed to foster well-rounded individuals who is capable in any field. Therefore, you do not need to worry!
