IUPUI

My name is Rishi B Chandra. I am an undergraduate student at IUPUI majoring in Accounting and Finance. I started attending IUPUI a year ago and these have been one of the most memorable days of my life.

The admission is also was very easy. I appeared for the SAT and TOEFL and then followed all the guidelines required to complete the application. I got my admit letter and I20 within 2 weeks (may vary for you) along with the scholarship notification. Then I booked my VISA date and after that I was all set to fly. The International Affairs office provides free transportation to incoming students from the airport to your destination which is really convenient.

Initial scholarships are based on your SAT scores and involvement in organizations and research during your stay in India most importantly how early you apply to IUPUI. Once you are here there are many scholarship opportunities which are based entirely on your GPA, extracurricular involvement, community service and willingness to do research.

The classes are more practical oriented which prepares you for all your future job position. IN my first semester itself I had the opportunity to visit some of the top companies in the US. The professors here emphasize a lot on ?networking? which will be really helpful in the future.

IUPUI is located in the heart of Indianapolis which gives you easy access to the downtown lifestyle. Fast-food joints, shopping malls, zoo (one of the finest), Indiana/multi cuisine Restaurants, grocery stores, clubs, football stadiums (Lucas OIL Stadium), basketball stadiums (Conseco Fieldhouse), river rafting, skydiving, and many other options are available to have fun during weekends and breaks. Indy also has an excellent network of local buses running all over the city with an excellent frequency which are of great assistance to reduce travelling time & expenses. The Indian community is really active and holds a lot of events on and off campus. This year we celebrated Independence Day in downtown. We also celebrate Garba Raas on an off-campus location and Holi on the IUPUI campus.
