Course summary This course aims to provide the educational experience and practical training necessary for the practice of physiotherapy; prepare undergraduates to work in future as physical therapists who are professionally competent and demonstrate good ethical judgment and compassion in the treatment of patients; nurture undergraduates to develop critical thinking skills and engage in continual professional development. Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Hons), UTAR physiotherapy graduates will help to alleviate the current national shortage of degree level physiotherapy personnel. These graduates will be eligible to apply for registration with the Malaysian Physiotherapy Association. They can work in academic institutions to be trainers to educate future generations of physiotherapists or be researchers in the science, both fundamental and applied, of physiotherapy. They can be employed by hospitals, either public or private, to provide higher level of physiotherapy services to patients who need specialized care. Alternatively, they can operate their own physiotherapy centres to provide physiotherapy services to the population at large.
International admissions requirements Applicants must have STPM with GPA 2.50 in Biology and Chemistry and 5 SPM credits in English Language, Matematik, Biology, Chemistry and Physics or A-Levels with GPA 2.50 in Biology and Chemistry and 5 SPM credits in English Language, Matematik, Biology, Chemistry and Physics/equivalent or Science Matriculation, Ministry of Education with GPA 2.50 in Biology and Chemistry and 5 SPM credits in English Language, Matematik, Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Foundation in Science, UTAR with GPA 2.50 in Biology and Chemistry and 5 SPM credits in English Language, Matematik, Biology, Chemistry and Physics/equivalent or Foundation from other Institutions of Higher Learning with GPA 2.50 in Biology and Chemistry and 5 SPM credits in English Language, Matematik, Biology, Chemistry and Physics/equivalent or South Australian Matriculation (SAM) with Tertiary Entrance Rank (TER) 70 and Grade B in Biology and Chemistry and 5 SPM credits in English Language, Matematik, Biology, Chemistry and Physics/equivalent or Canadian Pre-University (CPU) with an average of 70% in 6 subjects including Biology and Chemistry and 5 SPM credits in English Language, Matematik, Biology, Chemistry and Physics/equivalent or Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with Grade B in 5 subjects including Biology and Chemistry or Diploma in Science from KTAR/Institutions of Higher Learning in the relevant field with minimum CGPA 2.75 or Diploma in Science from Institutions of Higher Learning in the relevant field with CGPA <2.75 and with minimum of 3 years of working experience or other equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government. International students must have SPM/ SPMV English Language as Grade C, They should have a International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Score of Grade 6.0, Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) Score of 550, English 1119 / O-Level as C6, UEC Bahasa Inggeris as Grade B and Malaysian University English Test (MUET) should be Band 4.
