Robert Gordon University is an internationally acclaimed institution of higher education, training and educating students from all over the world in many sought after fields of study. Students from 73 countries enrol in this University every year to earn undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees. The Times Good University Guide 2010 named Robert Gordon University as the best modern university in the UK.
Located in Aberdeen, Europe’s oil capital, this state-funded University offers a comprehensive range of courses in nursing, business, law, engineering, science, computing, art, design, architecture, pharmacy, social work and health sciences. The University offers these courses through its various schools located in its Garthdee and Schoolhill campuses. Currently, 15,000 students including 1,000 international students are enrolled in Robert Gordon's various courses. There is also a total of 1,400 staff to help these students in their academic endeavours.
All courses offered at Robert Gordon University are created to make the students employable as soon as they complete their study. To achieve this, the University has designed a curriculum that involves theory and practice in equal measures. Paid work placements during undergraduate study is another important aspect of the Robert Gordon's study culture. Most of the courses include a work placement in order to train students in real-life work situations, and allow them to put academic theory into practice.
Robert Gordon University also plays a pioneering role in research and its staff and students are involved in many path-breaking research projects. The University then takes considerable effort to transfer research knowledge to the relevant industries. Robert Gordon houses many research centres including the Aberdeen Centre for Trauma Research, The Advanced Materials and Biomaterials Research Centre, Centre for Obesity Research and Epidemiology and Well Engineering Research Group.
