Established in 1976, The University of Buckingham is the only UK University independent of direct government support and is a pioneer in its distinctive approach to higher education. Buckingham offers students traditional small-group Oxbridge-style teaching along with the very best in new technology.

Buckingham was granted its Royal Charter in 1983. The University has continuously been on par with the state controlled universities in its methods of imparting education and providing students with an alternative to institutions in the public sector.
