Newport School of Art, Media and Design has developed a number of courses with both the creative demands of the student and the needs of employers in mind. Fashion Design at Newport has an excellent reputation for producing graduates who are able to adapt to the constantly changing demands of this exciting industry.  The courses are designed to help students develop the skills required to work in the fashion industry, whilst gaining an understanding of the business skills required to work within such a competitive environment, helps to ensure their success of employability. 

Newport is a member of the British Fashion Colleges Council that provides opportunities for students including events, bursaries and industry competitions. Members are selected for their exemplary education standards and industry links. Newport students have won many prestigious awards, and gain work experience in placements at numerous high-profile fashion houses.

The University's dedicated faculty contributes to the success of the course, coming from professional careers in the fashion industry and they continue with their practice through their research projects here at the University. The fashion programmes make creative use of new and existing technologies, and has a conviction to continue producing sought after graduates who are able to perform technically with a highly contemporary and sophisticated visual language.

Newport prides itself on being relevant to the real world and its degrees have a large practical component. This may take the form of work placements/internships or industry-based assignments, offering students the opportunity to work in the field, making them `ready for the world of work’ when they graduate.
