Course summary The degree programme incorporates fundamental flying practice and theory, but also the opportunity to obtain a Private Pilot's Licence and to undertake training in a flight simulator; as well as covering flying basics, students look at wider aspects of the aviation industry, for example airport design and environmental issues; students have the opportunity to carry out high-quality professional placements in the UK or overseas; the sandwich year may be spent on industrial placement in a range of companies, but will typically involve aerospace industries.

Program modules Level 1: Fundamentals of solid body mechanics; fundamentals of thermofluids; analytical methods and skills; design, materials and manufacturing; communication; management and practical skills; private pilot�s licence theory. Level 2: Solid body mechanics; aerofluid dynamics and principles of flight; avionics and materials in aerospace applications; aviation law, management and operations; aviation environment, safety and security; computer-aided design and manufacture. Level 3: Major project; flight planning, propulsion systems and flight mechanics; aircraft design, reliability and performance; airworthiness, aerospace business and advanced material and manufacturing; airport design and management.
