This course is designed for professionals who wish to improve their dispute resolution and, in particular, negotiation skills; the course integrates practice with the growing body of research and theoretical work; it provides practical mediation training at a high level leading to a postgraduate qualification; although the theory underpinning all forms of mediation practice is similar, the most important mediation types are dealt with separately including commercial, employment, family and community; negotiation theories and tactics, which are important in the practice of mediation, are also covered extensively.
Normally an undergraduate degree, or the equivalent; applicants who do not meet this requirement may still be admitted to the course if, at the discretion of the course leader, they have sufficient industry experience, when combined with non-degree level educational qualifications, to be exempt from the usual undergraduate degree rule.
