Course summary This course gives students the chance to engage with a wide range of musical repertoires including Western art and popular musics, world musics, contemporary music and electronic music; it encourages students to develop both critical and creative approaches to musical practice and study; they have the opportunity to consider current issues and debates in contemporary musicology, and also explore the complex interrelationships between music and other subjects, and between theory and creative practice, while being trained in fundamental research skills which they may also use in later doctoral study.
