Course summary Studying for an MPhil or PhD is very much an individual activity, and research topics vary widely, according to personal interests; the University helps the student to nurture their interests and develop skills and insights essential to their future progress; students are assisted by access to modern, well-equipped laboratories and library facilities, and are also supported in developing their research proposals; although research may be conducted within any of the University's academic departments, the University also maintains a number of distinctive specialist research centres to support and enhance the student's study options.
