Course summary This is offered on a non-modular basis; the emphasis throughout the course is to develop skills, knowledge and understanding of successful practice in post-compulsory education and confidence as a professional practitioner; this provides a basis for you to achieve the full professional status of Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) after the required period of professional formation working in the sector; students are encouraged to take major responsibility for planning and managing their professional experiences and progress as the course progresses, with the guidance of their personal tutor and their subject specialist workplace mentor; the structure of the course corresponds to the learning and teaching cycle, and includes identifying needs, planning for learning, managing learning, assessment and evaluation of learning; other themes include diversity, equal opportunities, inclusive learning, curriculum and policies; students are encouraged and supported in developing your skills and understanding in language, literacy, numeracy and information computer technology, to the professionally required level, by addressing the minimum core requirements in these areas; this course develops a very wide range of skills and aptitudes that can be applied in many different settings, though the focus is on students' own personal, professional development as a subject teacher in this sector; the supported placement in 1 of the partner colleges in South Wales is a central feature of the course, and enables students to develop professionally with the support of an experienced subject specialist mentor.
