Course summary Research opportunities in French studies: Modern French and Francophone (including African literature and cinema) studies; Valery; manuscript studies; genetic criticism; French cinema (especially Godard); independent film-makers; translations; media studies; 19th century French literature; 20th century French literature (especially Colette, Giono, Duras, nouveau Roman, drama; contemporary writing); French language; French economy, contemporary French society. Research opportunities in Hispanic studies: Spanish and Latin American cinema; contemporary Spanish literature; contemporary Spain; Spain in Europe; postcolonial studies; cultural studies; translation; lexicography; applied linguistics; business Spanish.

International admissions requirements For MPhil: Honours degree from a UK university or equivalent qualification required; for PhD: a relevant higher degree from a UK university or equivalent qualification; transfer from MPhil to PhD programmes is permitted.
