Course summary The course confers eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) provided that the student achieves at least an Upper 2nd Class Honours degree; it is an interdisciplinary programme and there is potential for work experience as well as opportunities to gain coaching and/or industry qualifications; the sport and psychology course examines the sciences underpinning the study of sport and considers how the mind and body work together for sport performance; in this course students also examine how psychology is applied in practice in sport and exercise settings, as well as having the opportunity to consider how diet and physical activity influence health, the theories which underpin coaching as well as considering how to assess fitness and prescribe exercise/training programmes; in the final year students complete a research project based on their independently-chosen topic area and work closely with a member of staff designated as their project supervisor.
